Bel Air Bakery to Close Up Shop

The bakery on North Bond Street is closing after decades in business.

The owners of the Bel Air Bakery announced the business will be closing its doors in late December.

The Hamiltons said they wanted to spend more time with their family and would close for good on Christmas, according to the announcement on Facebook, posted in full at the end of this article.

“We certainly will miss seeing our customers, but we need to take more time to care for ourselves and our family before too much more time slips by,” the Hamiltons said.

The store’s Facebook followers responded with an outpouring of sadness and support. Some said they would miss the donuts, while others mentioned the birthday and wedding cakes the bakery had produced over the years. One response: “Oh no! I must stockpile donuts.”

To all of our customers:

After 60 years, the Hamilton family has decided to retire.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have been such loyal customers over the last 60 years. We are truly honored that you chose to celebrate so many of your milestones with the Bel Air Bakery.

We apologize to those of you who are saddened by our closing, and we want you to know that this was the toughest decision we have ever made and we realize that it may be difficult for many of you to understand.

While we have been blessed with a successful business, however we have had to make many sacrifices to remain successful. The one thing that hard work and commitment has not been able to give us is time.

We certainly will miss seeing our customers but we need to take more time to care for ourselves and our family before too much more time slips by.

December 24, 2015 will be our last day of operation.

Many thanks to every one of you!
