Day-Old Puppies Abandoned Along Trail Find Forever Homes
The day-old puppies abandoned along a walking trail in Belcamp in October have found their forever homes, according to the Humane Society.

BELCAMP, MD — The three puppies found abandoned in a box along a walking trail in Belcamp Oct. 18 were officially ready for adoption last week and within no time at all, they found their forever homes.
The puppies - playfully coined the "park ranger" puppies, were discovered by a person walking the trail near Route 7 and Creswell Road not far from the Riverside Apartments. The person peered into the box and found four tiny puppies only a day or two old.
“Newborn puppies like these need their mother,” said Amanda Hickman, executive director of HSHC, in a press release at the time. “We’re so grateful that someone found them when they did. Just a few more hours in the cold could have been tragic.”

The good Samaritan knew to take the puppies immediately to the Humane Society where staff began caring for the puppies. They even took the litter home for after-hours care until a foster stepped in to help care for them. Sadly, the smallest puppy did not survive. But the remaining three puppies have been thriving and, at age two months, are ready for their forever homes.
The two males and one female are of an unknown mixed breed, but are expected to grow into small- to medium-sized dogs.

"Sometimes, animals are left outside the shelter after hours or in unsafe places, which can put their health and safety at serious risk. We always encourage anyone who can no longer care for their pets to bring them directly to us during open hours. Our team is here to help — no judgment, just compassion," the HSHC said.
