Bel Air Man Arrested for Crocker Drive Arson

Authorities say the man set fire to his own apartment.

A 52-year-old Bel Air man was arrested Tuesday and charged with setting fire to his own apartment last week, state fire officials said.

Michael J. Delambo of the 200 block of Crocker Drive was arrested when he was released from Harford Memorial Hospital where he has been treated since the June 1 fire, according to a press release from the Maryland State Fire Marshal. The fire started at around 11 a.m. last Wednesday. Firefighters from Bel Air, Abingdon and Fallston contained the fire within 15 minutes.

Delambo initially refused medical treatment at the scene but was later transported to Harford Memorial Hospital for an evaluation. No other injuries were reported.

He was charged with first degree and second degree arson, first degree malicious burning and reckless endangerment, according to a press release from the Maryland State Fire Marshal's office.

If convicted, Delambo faces up to 60 years in jail and/or $90,000 in fines, authorities said.
