Bel Air Man's Tractor Trailer Crash Halts Howard County Traffic

Northbound Interstate 95 was closed at Route 100

Northbound Interstate 95 at Route 100 in Howard County could remain closed throughout the evening as clean-up begins on an overturned tractor trailer, state police officials said Thursday afternoon.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area for the next few hours if possible.

The collision occurred shortly before 3 p.m., police said, and involved a tractor trailer driven by Jeffrey M. Simpson, of Bel Air, that was carrying junked vehicles.

Police said they are unsure why the trailer overturned.

Some of the junked vehicles being hauled fell into the roadway and caused two other minor crashes, police said.

No serious injuries were reported from any drivers involved, police said.

State police said the interstate needs to be closed as junked vehicles and debris are littered across four lanes. The tractor trailer also had a fuel spill as a result of the crash
