MARYLAND — Diners who love to try new dishes will be happy to hear that the first East Coast location of California Fish Grill will open its doors in Montgomery County next summer. It will occupy a vacant Five Guys site.
Another big change in Maryland's business arena includes a name change and updated imaging for the former Bowie Baysox as a nod to the Chesapeake Bay region. Fans also can attend a free holiday launch open house that will be open to the public.

First MD Location Of California Fish Grill To Open
California Fish Grill has signed a lease to take over the space Boston Market had leased, but never opened in Rockville’s Towne Plaza. The restaurant chain has more than 40 California sites, plus three in Las Vegas and two in the Phoenix area.

New Name, Image Announced By Bowie Baysox
On Friday, the Bowie Baysox officially announced their new name as the Chesapeake Baysox. The switch to Chesapeake as the team's geographical signifier reflects the expansion of its fan base.
Repurposed Clothing Shop Upcycled To Open
A clothing shop focused on offering sustainable fashion by repurposing pieces plans to hold its grand opening Jan. 1 in Gaithersburg. The family-run business will offer unique finds, coffee and invite customers to play table games and relax.
Marriott HQ To Lay Off Nearly 900 Workers
The Marriott International hotel chain plans to layoff more than 800 workers, according to Maryland’s WARN site. The website shows Marriott posted a notice Nov. 14 outlining its plans to cut 833 jobs effective Jan. 1, 2025.
Dill Dinkers Opening Indoor Pickleball Facility Soon
A new indoor pickleball facility is debuting in White Marsh next month, the second in Baltimore County. The growing chain, founded in Columbia, has five company-owned locations in Maryland and Virginia.
Bark Social, a chain of dog parks with locations in Maryland and Northern Virginia, abruptly closed this week as the business prepares to file for bankruptcy, according to the owners and reports.
