Controlled Burns Underway Monday At Edgewood Area Of APG
APG officials announced that controlled burns were happening Monday at the Edgewood area of the installation.
ABERDEEN, MD — The Edgewood area of the Aberdeen Proving Ground has been under a controlled burn Monday to help manage downrange areas on the installation.
APG leaders said that they will attempt to minimize the smoke from affecting on-post and off-post residents.
"Prescribed burning is coordinated with the APG Fire Department and is the safest and most cost-effective way to maintain APG ranges due to unexploded ordnance concerns. All controlled burns are implemented in accordance with the Installation Wildland Fire Management Plan, which addresses potential wildland fire risks and sustain mission landscape for testing and training activities," the APG stated Monday.
