HARFORD COUNTY, MD — A first-of-its kind educational tool is now open in Harford County, according to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office.
The tool is known as the CORE trailer (Community OutReach Effort), and it is geared toward middle and high-school-aged children. Community organizations and groups can request use of the trailer, according to Harford County Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler.
Once inside, young people will be presented with options that test their decision-making around drugs and alcohol.

“We know we cannot arrest our way out of the issues of substance abuse [and] addiction, but it's my hope that through all of our collective efforts to include the early education of our younger residents, the citizens of Harford County will do their part to dry up the demand for these drugs and put suppliers out of business," Gahler said during the unveiling of the CORE trailer at the Southern Precinct in Edgewood, which he declared open for business.
"It is our belief that this project is the first of its kind in the country," Gahler said.

The Harford County Sheriff's Office took viewers on a video tour inside the trailer, where a group of volunteers tested it out on Thursday:

The trailer and its interactive lessons were made possible through a partnership among the Harford County Sheriff’s Office, Harford County Office of Drug Control Policy, Aberdeen Proving Ground Federal Credit Union and the Harford County Sheriff’s Foundation.
