Floats Wanted: Bel Air July 4 Parade Is Still Taking Applications
The Bel Air Independence Day Parade will bring floats, marching bands, horses and other groups to Main Street for the Fourth of July.

BEL AIR, MD — With a little less than a month until the big day, the Bel Air Independence Day Committee is still putting the finishing touches on its lineup for the annual 4th of July parade.
“We need floats,” Parade Chairman Michael Blum told Bel Air Patch on Wednesday.
So far, 17 bands and other performers are lined up, including stilt-walkers and jugglers, as well as fire engines, tractors, horses, superheroes, princesses and more, according to Blum.

The only cash prizes are for floats, he noted.
"A vehicle pulling something else that people are on is a float," Blum said in a meeting of the Bel Air Independence Day Committee on Wednesday night.

In addition to noting the need for floats, he said very few antique cars have signed up to participate in the parade in recent years.
Parade applications close on June 19.
The theme for 2022 is Honoring Harford's Educators.
"We are very much looking forward to floats, marching units, specialty acts, business units" and other participants signing up and participating, Blum said in an email to Patch on Thursday.
The Bel Air July 4 Parade is set to run from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 4. It will start at the intersection of Idlewild and South Main Street and proceed to the intersection of East Gordon Street and North Main Street, at the sign welcoming people to Bel Air.
A fireworks display will follow around 9:30 p.m., launched from Rockfield Park.
More activities are planned during the day, before the parade. See the full list, from the Bel Air Independence Day Committee.
