Former President Carter Honored With Cannon Rounds Fired Monday At APG
APG will be firing cannon rounds every 30 minutes Monday to honor former President Jimmy Carter who died Sunday.

ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, MD — In honor of the passing of former President Jimmy Carter, a ceremonial cannon round will be fired every 30 minutes Monday starting at 11 a.m. on Fanshaw Field until the end of day retreat.
APG officials stated that the ceremonial cannon round is not hazardous to residents in nearby communities.
Former President Jimmy Carter, the World War II veteran and Georgia peanut farmer whose one-term presidency evolved into a post-White House life as a distinguished diplomat, active humanitarian and Nobel Prize winner, died Sunday, Dec. 29, at his home in Plains, Georgia. He was 100 years old, Patch reported.

His son, Chip Carter confirmed that the former president died about 3:45 p.m., both The Washington Post and Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. His family was with the former president when he died, The Carter Center said.
