Weather Alert: Isolated Tornadoes, Large Hail Possible On Thursday In Harford County

Harford County faces a threat of severe storms Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for parts of the region on Thursday, including Harford County.

The National Weather Service issued the severe thunderstorm watch, which is in effect from 3:30 p.m. on Thursday to midnight on Friday. It calls for frequent lightning, wind gusts up to 65 mph and isolated cases of quarter-sized hail.

Authorities say severe storms are possible for these areas, which are under the watch: Anne Arundel County, Baltimore City and Carroll, Cecil, Charles, Frederick, Harford, Howard, Montgomery, Prince George's and Washington counties.

PREVIOUS REPORT: The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for parts of the region on Thursday, including Harford County.

Severe thunderstorms that may be accompanied by damaging wind gusts, large hail and isolated tornadoes are possible, according to the National Weather Service.

The storms may occur in the late afternoon and into the evening, forecasters said. Based on the Harford County forecast from the National Weather Service, thunderstorms will be most likely from 5 p.m. Thursday to 2 a.m. Friday.

These areas are under the hazardous weather outlook:

  • Baltimore County (northern)
  • Carroll County
  • Frederick County
  • Harford County (northwest)
  • Howard County
  • Montgomery County (northwest)
  • Washington County

Parts of northern and central Virginia are also included in the hazardous weather outlook.
