Lane Closures In Place For State Highway Projects

Drivers should plan for lane closures needed while crews work on state highways near Creswell and Benson.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Work has started on state highway projects in Harford County that require lane closures.

Contractor crews are upgrading sections of guardrails where needed on MD 136 (Calvary Road) from MD 543 (Creswell Road) to MD 22 (Churchville Road) north of Creswell, and on US 1 Business (Baltimore Pike) from US 1 Bypass to Tollgate Road north of Benson. The work should wrap up by late December, weather permitting.

Crews also started work Monday along MD 136. Drivers can expect daytime single-lane closures with flagging operations between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., weekdays.

Crews will start working as soon as 9 a.m. Nov. 10 along US 1 Business. Drivers can expect daytime single-lane and double-lane closures with lane shifts if needed between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., weekdays.

The work on MD 136 and US 1 Business is part of a $6.5 million contract to upgrade traffic barriers along state highways in Harford and Baltimore counties.
