Director of disabilities for Harford County Government

Why do you believe the local hero should be recognized or honored?

She is constantly being selfless to serve the disability community and their families. She organizes events and promotes them tirelessly to her personal community to try to gain more support for kids with disabilities and their families. She hosts a wheelchair Halloween workshop every year and an inclusive trunk or treat. She organizes holiday present drives for low income families who care for a child with disabilities. Her brother Garon is neurodiverse and her passion stems from supporting him and doing good in their community. She is extremely deserving!

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the local hero?

Rachel has three kids and has empowered them all to care for our community just as she does. Her kids have coordinated their own fundraisers at school to support various causes they care about as well. Her influence and passion are contagious and she inspires everyone around her to consider and support those who have less!

Thank you for all you do, Rachel Harbin!
