Marine Unit From Harford County Helps Patrol Waters Around Collapsed Key Bridge

The marine unit with the Harford County Sheriff's Office will help the Coast Guard patrol the waters around the collapsed Key Bridge.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — The Harford County Sheriff's Office's marine unit serves as part of the Maritime Tactical Operators Group. They work closely with the U.S. Coast Guard to provide support on a regular basis.

In the coming weeks and possibly months, the HCSO marine unit will be assisting the U.S. Coast Guard with enforcing the security zone around the collapsed Francis Scott Key Bridge.

"We are honored to be part of a community that comes together during times of tragedy," the sheriff's office said on social media.

Officials expect to fully reopen Baltimore's channel by the end of May. That will be about two months after the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed on March 26, killing two workers and leaving four others presumed dead in the wreckage.
