Ocean City Brewing Company Taphouse Opening in Abingdon

Craft beer enthusiasts, Christmas is coming early in Abingdon.

Ocean City Brewing Company is opening its Boulevard at Box Hill location on Friday, Dec. 4.

The business will feature 150 craft beers, a patio beer garden, sports bar, children’s playground and family-style restaurant.

“We’re starting with over 100 bottles and cans and 50 taps,” owner Josh Shores told Patch Thursday. “We will have the largest selection of craft beer in Harford County and probably anywhere north of Baltimore right now.”

The food menu ranges from fried pickles, coconut shrimp, buffalo chicken and deviled eggs to burgers, flatbreads, pecan chicken salad, snow crab legs and cannoli cake. See the menu here.

In addition, there will be plenty of options in the beverage department, especially because the brewing company, whose flagship location opened in 2014 in Ocean City, produces its own labels.

“We’re only going to be showcasing 11 or 12 of our own beers [in Abingdon],” Shores said. “The other 150-plus beers will be beers from all over the world....As long as you enjoy beer, come on in; we’ll find something you like.”

The tap house in Abingdon has been in the works for months but hit a snag this fall due to a technical issue with the Harford County Liquor Control Board.

During that time, Shores said he realized how much interest there was. ”Overwhelming” was how he described the community support.

“We were getting a phone call every seven minutes,” he said, from people wondering when the restaurant would be open.

The wait is over. Ocean City Brewing Company Taphouse and Restaurant is located 3414 Merchant Boulevard, Abingdon. It will open at 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4. Hours will be from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily. On weekends, there will soon be a “beer-unch” that runs from 9 a.m. to 1 or 2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
