Safety Improvements Underway At Busy Intersection Requiring Lane Closures
Crews are working on an intersection in Harford County to improve the safety there. Drivers should expect lane closures for the next year.
HARFORD COUNTY, MD — A new project underway in Harford County will help improve safety at a busy intersection and require lane closures for the next year.
Work started Monday at the intersection of US 1 (Belair Road) at Reckord Road calls for the upgrade of the existing flashing traffic signal to a full-time traffic signal. The project should wrap up in early winter 2026, weather permitting.
Contractor crews are installing the new traffic signal system and resurfacing the east leg of Reckord Road intersection at northbound US 1. Once that work is complete, the new traffic signal system will be activated to partial operation and then activated to full operation for all four legs of the intersection.
Contractor crews will work along US 1 on weekdays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. During work hours, drivers can expect single-lane closures along US 1 in the vicinity of the Reckord Road intersection. Contractor crews will use temporary traffic signs and cones to guide drivers through the work zone.
