Seen Around Town: Eyes On Destruction

Here's a weekly photograph from around the Bel Air Patch area.

Demolition of the is in full swing, stopping passersby in their tracks with the commotion.

As I made my way through town this afternoon I could hear the grinding, crunching sound of construction, and I wasn't the only one drawn by the sounds.

, but cranes and crumbling walls are instant attention grabbers no matter how fresh the process.

While I snapped a few pictures from across the street I noticed drivers, pedestrians and Main Street professionals turning their heads, stopping in the street or popping outside for a better look.

The town purchased the 19,700-square-foot building at 33–37 S. Main St. in 2011 under .

The town initially considered relocating town hall to the site, and while the town may eventually move its main building there, for now, the plan is to have the building demolished and replaced with a parking lot.

The structure is located between Main Street Tower Restaurant and the Harford County Sheriff's Office headquarters and across the street from Harford County Circuit Court.
