Sovereign Bank Robbed, Patterson Mill Locked Down

A Bel Air bank was robbed at gunpoint Monday, prompting police and school officials to place nearby Patterson Mill High School on lockdown.

Around 11:08 a.m. a man wearing a hard hat and dust or surgical mask walked into , according to a preliminary release from Edward Hopkins, spokesman for the Harford County Sheriff's Office.

The masked man pulled a gun and ordered a bank employee to give him cash then ran out the back of the bank, according to Hopkins. No one was injured during the course of the robbery.

It is unclear if this robbery is connected to several recent robberies around the county, Hopkins wrote.

The school was placed on lockdown for a short time as a precaution while deputies searched the area.

The robber is described as a white man in his forties wearing a hard hat, dust or surgical mask, blue jeans, work boots and a plaid flannel shirt.
