Sunny Dreams Farm In Bel Air Offers Fresh Produce, Mums, Pumpkins, Mini Animals

BEL AIR, MD — The weather right now might be cold and dreary, but as soon as warm weather and spring arrives, Sunny Dreams Farm will be open with its produce, baked goods and more.

Located at 1221 Prospect Mill Road, owners Ken Lucas and Michele Young started the farm in 2022. Sunny Dreams Farm began with Babydoll Southdown Sheep and Miniature Nigerian dwarf goats. They had so much fun in the beginning that they expanded to include miniature potbellied pigs and Harlequin sheep, as well as some non-miniature breeds.

"We started as breeders then realized we had the ability to grow produce for the neighborhood, too. Since then, we have expanded to include a produce building and offer locally grown produce and Amish baked goods," Young told Patch.

Sunny Dreams Farm offers produce, flowers, miniature animal breeding of goats, sheep and pigs for 4-H and FFA projects or personal ownership, plus locally raised honey, pumpkins, mums and eggs, as well as crafts from local vendors. They're the only Harlequin sheep breeder in Maryland recognized by the Harlequin Sheep Society & Registry. Young said the customers love their selection and affordable prices.

"They also love to stop by to pick up produce and while here, feed the goats," Young said.

Most customers are from the Bel Air area, but there are some who travel from further away.

"We live and work here, so our business is great for our local community. We get to meet our neighbors with every interaction," Young said.

Even when the farm stand is officially closed in the off-season, they still offer a lot of products year-round including pasture-raised black Angus beef. The farm stand will open for the 2025 season on April 1.
