'A Trauma for All of Us': Howard County Fire Chief on Paramedic's Death
Hundreds poured into Marriotts Ridge High School in Marriottsville for funeral service in Howard County.

The funeral for the 29-year-old Columbia man who died in the line of duty as a Bel Air paramedic packed Marriotts Ridge High School Sunday afternoon.

Hundreds came out in support of Erik Steciak, who has served in Howard and Harford counties as a first responder for more than a decade, recalling his dedication, his insatiable thirst for knowledge and his humor.

Losing Steciak is “a trauma for all of us,” Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services Chief John Butler said.
