MARYLAND — Last Christmas looked markedly different from years past as millions of Americans opted for smaller holiday celebrations amid a surge in coronavirus cases.

This year, however, as more and more Maryland residents roll up their sleeves to get the COVID-19 vaccine, traditional — and larger — Christmas gatherings are almost guaranteed to make a jolly return.

While Thanksgiving was good practice for our return to Christmas dinners for a crowd, that doesn’t mean you won’t forget an ingredient or two when whipping up your favorite holiday side dish.

Have no fear, Patch has checked which grocery stores are open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day for those emergency and last-minute shopping trips in Maryland.

Here are the hours for grocery stores that will be open, along with those that won’t:

Aldi: Stores will be open Christmas Eve from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Maryland, except those in Baltimore City will be open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; closed on Christmas Day.

BJ’s Wholesale Club: Stores will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve and will be closed on Christmas Day.

Costco: Maryland stores will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve, and all stores will be closed Christmas Day. Call ahead to confirm hours with your local store.

CVS: Many locations, including those open 24 hours, will be open regular hours on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day; however, some pharmacies may have reduced hours or be closed for the holiday. Customers are encouraged to call ahead to confirm hours at their preferred locations.

Eddie's Market: The Roland Park stores — on North Charles Street and Roland Avenue — will be open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve. The Mt. Vernon location will be open 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve. All Eddie's Market stores will be closed on Christmas Day.

Food Lion: Stores will be open until 7 p.m. Christmas Eve and closed Christmas Day.

The Fresh Market: Stores will open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. Christmas Eve. All stores are closed Christmas Day.

Giant Food: Stores are slated to close at 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve, with some open Christmas Day. On Christmas Eve, the last pickup orders will be at 5 p.m., and the pharmacies will close at 6 p.m. For Christmas hours, call ahead to your preferred store. These Giant pharmacies will be open until 5 p.m. on Christmas Day: 6223 Baltimore National Pike, Catonsville; 3757 Old Court Rd., Pikesville; and 10400 Old Georgetown Rd., Bethesda.

Graul's Market: Open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Baltimore County locations and open 7 a.m to 6 p.m. in Annapolis and Cape St. Claire stores on Christmas Eve. Stores are closed on Christmas Day.

Green Valley Marketplace: Open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve and closed Christmas Day.

Harris Teeter: All stores will open at their regular time and close at 7 p.m. Christmas Eve. Stores are closed Christmas Day.

Lidl: Stores will close at 8 p.m. Christmas Eve and remain closed through Christmas Day.

MOM’s My Organic Market: Stores will be open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Christmas Eve and will be closed Christmas Day.

Redner's: Stores will be open from 6 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve and closed Christmas Day.

Rite Aid: Most locations will be open Christmas Eve, and select stores will be open Christmas Day; however, hours will vary. Call ahead to confirm hours.

Safeway: Stores will be open on Christmas Eve and close between 4-9 p.m. Some stores will be closed on Christmas while others will be open limited hours. Call ahead to your preferred location to confirm hours.

Sam’s Club: Stores will be open until 6 p.m. Christmas Eve and will be closed on Christmas Day.

Save A Lot: Stores will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve and closed on Christmas Day.

Shoppers: Stores are open 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve and closed on Christmas Day.

ShopRite: Hours will vary by location. Call ahead to your local store to confirm hours.

Target: Most stores will close at 8 p.m. Christmas Eve. All stores are closed Christmas Day.

Trader Joe’s: All stores will close at 6 p.m. Christmas Eve. Stores are closed Christmas Day.

Walgreens: Walgreens stores will be open during regular business hours on Christmas Eve. Pharmacy hours vary by location. On Christmas Day, most Walgreens stores will be open from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Twenty-four-hour Walgreens locations and 24-hour pharmacies will remain open.

Walmart: Stores will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Christmas Eve. All stores are closed Christmas Day.

Wawa: Most locations will be open 24 hours on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Wegmans: All Wegmans locations will close at 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve and remain closed through Christmas Day.

Weis Market: Stores will be open 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve and closed Christmas Day.

Whole Foods: Stores will be open on Christmas Eve, but hours will vary by location. Call ahead to your preferred store to confirm hours. All stores are closed Christmas Day.

Winn-Dixie: Stores will be open until 9 p.m. and pharmacies until 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve. All stores and pharmacies will be closed on Christmas Day.
