What’s Open, Closed On New Year’s Day 2022 In Bel Air

BEL AIR, MD — New Year’s Day is one of several holidays that usually affect the hours of government offices, libraries, public transportation, garbage pickup and other services in Bel Air.
Since New Year's Day falls on a Saturday in 2022, Harford County government gave employees the day off on Friday, Dec. 31. The town of Bel Air followed suit.

Open
- Harford Mall is open 10 a.m.–6 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 1. It opens at 7 a.m. for mall walkers.
- Town, county and state parks are open.
- Thousands of lights will be turned on downtown each night for Bel Air's Winter Wonderland display from 5 to 11 p.m. until Jan. 2.
- The Upper Chesapeake Health COVID-19 testing site will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily at 500 Upper Chesapeake Drive, Bel Air, MD 21014. Take the right-in, right-out entrance from MD 24 into the parking lot and turn left; go toward the tent.

Closed
- Harford County Public Library branches will be closed Friday, Dec. 31, and Saturday, Jan. 1.
- Harford County Government offices closed Friday, Dec. 31.
- Town of Bel Air government offices closed Friday, Dec. 31
- The Harford Waste Disposal Center, Administrative Office, and Tollgate Residential Yard Trim Drop-Off will be closed on Friday, Dec. 31, and Saturday, Jan. 1.
- Recycling in Bel Air was collected Thursday, Dec. 30. Yard waste collection was canceled Friday, Dec. 31.
Starting the day after Thanksgiving, parking meters downtown were free through Jan. 2, 2022.
Parking is normally free in town after 5 p.m. and on weekends.
