166 New COVID-19 Cases, 9 More Deaths Reported In County: Feb. 10

Montgomery County on Wednesday registered 166 new coronavirus infections, as well as nine more deaths from COVID-19.

BETHESDA, MD — Montgomery County added 166 new coronavirus cases and nine more deaths from COVID-19, according to the Maryland Department of Health.

Figures released Wednesday push the countywide totals since the start of the pandemic to 61,001 infections and 1,316 fatalities.

The latest fatality count does not include the 44 others whose deaths were linked to the virus but never confirmed by a lab test. For now, they are considered "probable deaths."

Montgomery County continues to have the highest number of deaths in the state. It also has the second-highest number of confirmed cases, after Prince George's County, which has 70,244, according to the latest figures.

Across Maryland, there have been 366,666 coronavirus cases, 7,267 confirmed deaths, and 179 "probable deaths." Of the 1,282 patients being hospitalized for the disease statewide, 324 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
