3 MoCo Bakeries Named To Eater's 'Best Bakeries Around DC' List

Three bakeries with Montgomery County locations have been named to Eater's "Best Bakeries Around DC" list.

BETHESDA, MD — A Montgomery County bakery known for its pastries and coffee — Sunday Morning Bakehouse in the Pike & Rose area — has been named one of the “Best Bakeries Around DC” by Eater DC.

The recognition highlights the bakery’s standout pastries and coffee program.

Here's what Eater says of the business: "This chic North Bethesda jewel focuses on crafting quality, small-batch croissants and other pastries like brown sugar scones, brioche doughnuts, and cookies. The croissant menu covers savory and sweet, ranging from a stuffed ham and Swiss cheese or mushroom truffle to traditional butter, chocolate, and matcha green tea, varieties (plus cruffins). Weekend specials include kouign amann and macarons."

The Bethesda site at 11869 Grand Park Ave. in North Bethesda has been open since 2019, The MoCo Show said. A second location at 1796 Chain Bridge Road, in McLean, Virginia opened this fall.

Both locations are open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

Chef and owner Caroline Yi attended Wootton High School and then earned a degree from the University of Maryland, College Park, The MoCo Show said.

Other Maryland venues that made the list are Fresh Baguette, which has locations in Bethesda and Rockville, and Sticky Fingers vegan bakery and café located outside of Takoma Park, the website said.
