Student Reports Cell Phone Above Her Bathroom Stall: Police

A female student at the University of Maryland notified campus officers that on Aug. 31 around 7 p.m., she was recording using the bathroom. The incident happened in a restroom on the second floor of the Edward St. John Learning and Teaching Center. She noticed a cell phone positioned over the stall she was in. The student then left the bathroom.

MD Man, 93, Dies After Brush Fire Burns Out Of Control

A Cresaptown man died Thursday after authorities said a brush fire he was tending in Allegany County accidentally burned out of control. Charles W. Armstrong, 93, died at MedStar Washington Hospital Burn Center after suffering first, second, and third-degree burns to his body, the Office of the State Fire Marshal said in a news release.

A fire station caught on fire early Sunday morning after an ambulance's engine ignited in its bay. At 5:12 a.m., smoke alarms alerted eight firefighters at the Marlboro Volunteer Fire Department, located at 14915 Pratt Street station in Upper Marlboro, that a fire had broken out.

Violent Brawl Among Students After Game Leads To New Safety Plans

County officials said no student has been charged criminally yet in connection with a brawl that broke out among students on Sept. 1 after a football game between Bethesda-Chevy Chase and Walter Johnson High Schools. Monifa McKnight, superintendent of Montgomery County Public Schools, and County Police Chief Marcus Jones said in a joint letter to residents that available evidence has been reviewed, including videos of teens fighting.

A swastika was discovered drawn on a computer screen of a student at Westland Middle School in Bethesda during the first week of school in Montgomery County. Westland Middle School Principal Alison Serino wrote a letter to parents dated Sept. 1 to let them know about the incident, Montgomery County Media reported Tuesday.
