A Different Dog Day Care

Henry Towberman of Pup Scouts thinks he knows what post-pandemic dog owners need, and is ready to provide it!

There's a new, and different, dog day care in town. For years, while managing dog day care facilities owned by other people, Henry Towberman imagined about what his ideal dog day care would look like. It wouldn't have cages--friendly dogs would play together in large open spaces under constant supervision. It would have an outdoor space for dogs to get fresh air and sunshine (and use the bathroom). Owners could pick up or drop off their pets at any time of the day or night at no extra charge. Live online cameras would let people check on their dogs remotely. It would have a big fridge for special foods and medicines. It would ensure skilled and quality dog care by treating employees fairly. It would partner with other local dog-related business, like trainers and groomers, creating a locally-owned and operated support network for dog owners.

After years of hard work--and an arduous county permitting process--Henry's dream has finally come true. On August 1, 2024, Pup Scouts opened on Randolph Road off Rockville Pike. It is a beautiful, new, spacious, custom-designed facility. Respected dog trainer Kelly Citrin and her business 4 On The Floor have a dedicated training room in the Pup Scouts space. Henry's wife Indira brings her organizational skills (and friendly smile) to the business. And they live just around the corner, so they know the area and the people that live there. Henry and Indira hope to see you and your special pup soon!
