Fire Causes $800K In Damage, Displaces Family In Bethesda: PICS
A Bethesda family was displaced after a fire broke out in the attic of their home, causing about $800,000 in damages, officials said.
BETHESDA, MD — A Bethesda family was displaced after a fire broke out in the attic of their home Tuesday afternoon, fire officials said.
About 85 firefighters responded to the blaze in the 5900 block of Searl Terrace at about 3:30 p.m. Arriving firefighters saw heavy smoke coming out of the home's roof.
The residents were alerted by a fire alarm and escaped the home safely, Montgomery County Fire & Rescue spokesperson Pete Piringer said. No one was injured.

The fire caused about $800,000 in damage, with $600,000 to the structure and $200,000 to the contents of the home, Piringer said.
The fire spread to the third floor of the home, but mostly affected the attic and roof.
