Former Student Made Threats Against Bethesda School: Police

The Rockville man allegedly posted threatening statements saying "I hate WJ" and "Ha, ha, I'm going to shoot up the school," police say.

BETHESDA, MD — A Rockville man has been arrested after police say he made threats directed at Walter Johnson High School in Bethesda.

Luis Amilcar Cabrera, 18, was arrested on Thursday in Towson with help from the Baltimore County Police Department, Montgomery County Police said in a press release Saturday. Cabrera, a former student at the school, was charged with one count of threat of mass violence and is currently being held without bond, police said.

Police say students notified their school resource office on Oct. 12 after Carbera allegedly posted photographs and a threatening statement to Snapchat.

Police allege the photo was of Cabrera holding an AR-15 rifle with loaded magazines and further allege that the words "school shooter" were included in the photo. Police say the students who notified their school resource officer also said that Cabrera had allegedly posted "I hate WJ" and "Ha, ha, I'm going to shoot up the school," within the past month.

"Cabrera has stated in videos that he owns the AR-15 and keeps it with him at all times for protection," police said in the press release. "He is also seen holding a .40 caliber KelTek rifle."
