Why Go: Now in its 58^th year, Landon school’s azalea festival is a chance to glimpse the school’s beautiful gardens as more than 15,000 azaleas reach their peak. Entertainment, a “Funland” with carnival games and boardwalk-style food, specialty boutiques, a plant sale and a 5K race and one-mile fun run are also in the works.

3.) CALL IT ANYTHING: MILES DAVIS’ “ELECTRIC PERIOD,” 1968-1991

5.) FAMILY DAY AT GLEN ECHO PARK

Why Go: This celebration marks the opening of Glen Echo Park’s historic Dentzel carousel. Just $1.25 will buy you a ride on the carousel, and face painting, dance performances, magic shows, family dancing, and a youth art exhibition are also planned.
