We all know someone who's making a difference. Here is Dede Schrader, who runs a charity called Bright Spot to brighten people's lives.

BETHESDA, MD — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We’re working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.
This submission comes from Steve Schrader who nominated Dede Schrader of Bethesda-Chevy Chase. Dede Schrader runs a charity, called Bright Spot, to let people know they are loved.

Runs a charity for our community called BRIGHT SPOT
Why do you believe the local hero should be recognized or honored?
She has sent out 2,000 cards in 10 months to people in need to brighten their days (from military to seniors to children in the hospital). She just does it to remind people they ARE loved. More kindness, less hate in the world in her motto. 2000 cards to strangers just to give them a reminder someone cares. Check out abrightspot.org or on Facebook use search words brightspotrequest. She is changing the world around us and is a hero for sure.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the local hero?
She tries hard to make things brighter for everyone. One card could mean the world to someone struggling. Just to let them know someone is out there caring. That's Dede.
Thank you for all you do, Dede Schrader!
