Man Killed While Trying To Retrieve Object On Beltway Near Spur
A Montgomery County man was killed after he was struck by a car on Northbound I-495 at the I-270 spur in Bethesda Tuesday night.

BETHESDA, MD — A 53-year-old man was killed after he was struck by a car on Northbound I-495 at the I-270 spur in Bethesda Tuesday night, police said.
The decedent has been identified as Edward Keith Long, 53, of Montgomery County.
Preliminary investigation reveals Long was driving a Mitsubishi and pulled over on the shoulder of the freeway at about 9:39 p.m. He got out of his car and ran into the roadway to retrieve an object when he was struck by an Audi, police said.

Long and the Audi driver were transported by ambulance to Suburban Hospital for treatment. Long succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, police said.
