Maryland’s contributions to the list mainly came from three areas: suburban Washington, D.C., the Chesapeake Bay region, and the wealthy enclaves of Howard County in the center of the state.

The highest-ranking ZIP code in Maryland is Royal Oak at No. 97. The community is located in Talbot County on the east side of Chesapeake Bay. Forbes puts the median home price in Royal Oak at $1.467 million.
