Staffers Get Medical Treatment After Breaking Up Fight At MoCo School
Two B-CC staff members who tried to break up a fight were knocked to the floor "sought appropriate medical treatment," the principal said.

BETHESDA, MD — Two staff members were knocked to the floor trying to break up a fight between two students at Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School.
The fight took place on Wednesday, the first day back for students at the high school from winter break.
Montgomery County Council member Will Jawando, who viewed a video of the incident, said in a statement that “violence has no place in our schools or community.”

“I have been briefed by MCPS regarding the fight at BCC High School on the first day back from break,” Jawando said. “I commend the school administrators and security team for acting swiftly.”
“Our students, teachers and staff deserve a safe place to learn and work,” he added. "As an MCPS parent, all families deserve to feel safe sending their children to school.”

Jawando said he will continue his efforts as chair of the Education and Culture Committee to ensure that MCPS has the funding for security, mental health services and restorative justice programs to address conflict and keep students safe.
In a letter to parents, Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School Principal Shelton Mooney said the incident took place in the school’s main lobby during lunch, WTOP reported.
Mooney wrote in the letter that after the two staff members who tried to de-escalate the situation were knocked to the floor, they “sought appropriate medical treatment.”
“Upon completion of the investigation regarding the incident, the students have received disciplinary consequences in accordance with the MCPS Student Code of Conduct,” Mooney wrote.
