MoCo Elections Office Seeks Workers For Upcoming Elections In 2024
The Montgomery County Board of Elections on Tuesday will be promoting Help America Vote Day as it seeks workers for this year's elections.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — The Montgomery County Board of Elections on Tuesday will be promoting Help America Vote Day, a day of action established by the U.S. Election Assistance Commission. Montgomery County is encouraging people to sign up to be an election worker.
To serve in these paid volunteer positions, all election poll workers must be registered to vote in the State of Maryland, able to speak, read, and write the English language, and cannot hold, or be a candidate for, public or party office. In addition, election workers may not serve as a campaign manager for candidates or as treasurer for any campaign finance entity.
The Montgomery County Board of Elections needs voters who speak multiple languages. Voters who are fluent in both English and Spanish are especially needed in each polling place to meet the requirements of Section 203 of the 1975 Voting Rights Act, which stipulates that a bilingual Spanish speaker be available at the polling places.
