Montgomery County Announces 100 Mile Challenge

The program encourages residents and their dogs to log 100 miles of physical activity in 100 days.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD – The Montgomery County Department of Recreation wants to help jumpstart your 2018 fitness resolutions. The 100 Mile Challenge is back for its third year, and registration is underway.

This popular program encourages residents and their dogs to log 100 miles of physical activity in 100 days. For this challenge, you can walk, run, or bike one mile a day or engage in 20 minutes of continuous physical activity. The 100 Mile Challenge is part of the Move More Montgomery Initiative, which is designed to encourage Montgomery County residents to get moving to enhance their health and wellness. The Department of Recreation is partnering with the City of Gaithersburg and Montgomery Parks on the program.

“It’s our responsibility to promote health and wellness throughout the entire county,” said Department of Recreation Director Gabe Albornoz. “We are in a unique position to help residents improve their quality of life. The department is focused on getting residents active and taking advantage of all the great recreation programs and facilities that are available to them. I challenge all County residents regardless of age or ability to take the 100 Mile Challenge and lead a healthier life.”
