Since the pandemic started in March, Montgomery County has recorded 32,005 cases and 894 deaths tied to COVID-19.
BETHESDA, MD — Montgomery County added 383 new COVID-19 cases and one new death on Wednesday, pushing its overall totals to 32,005 infections and 894 fatalities, according to the Maryland Department of Health.
Another 42 people, health officials believe, had the disease but died before ever getting tested. For now, they are considered "probable deaths" — and will not be added to the county's official fatality count until they are confirmed by a laboratory test.
The county — which is home to roughly 1 million residents — continues to have the highest number of deaths in the state. It also has the second highest number of confirmed cases, after Prince George's County, which has 39,790, according to the latest figures.
