The Maryland attorney general said Wednesday no charges will be filed in a December 2023 fatal police chase in Montgomery County.

WHEATON, MD — The Maryland attorney general said Wednesday no charges will be filed in a December 2023 police chase in Montgomery County. A teenage passenger in the vehicle that fled police died in a crash.

Attorney General Anthony G. Brown announced his decision to forego charges in the Dec. 13, 2023, incident that began about 10:15 p.m. when Montgomery County Police officers attempted a traffic stop on a Nissan Maxima near Georgia Avenue and Plyers Mill Road. The Nissan fled and briefly eluded police, who then located the car near Bucknell Drive and Cambridge Park Court in Wheaton and attempted a second traffic stop.

According to the report from Brown's office, the Nissan struck a marked Montgomery County Police car and drove off. Officers pursued the Nissan onto northbound Georgia Avenue, and at the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Henderson Avenue, the driver of the Nissan struck a median, lost control, and veered into the southbound lanes of Georgia Avenue, where it collided with two vehicles.
