Principal From Bethesda Charged With DUI After School's Prom

Saint John's Catholic Prep​ principal Marcus Lentz Minsker, of Bethesda, was charged in a crash shortly after the school's prom.

BETHESDA, MD — A Frederick principal from Bethesda is on leave after he was charged with driving under the influence in a crash that occurred shortly after the school's prom, according to reports.

The Frederick News Post reports Saint John's Catholic Prep principal Marcus Lentz Minsker, 46, of Bethesda was involved in a crash in Frederick at 11:59 p.m. Friday, April 27. The accident occurred shortly after the school's prom, which was held at Richland Golf Club from 8 to 11 p.m.

Police said Minsker was driving a silver Volkswagen Jetta west on Old National Pike near Edgemont Road. No one was injured in the crash. No further details have been released about the crash.

Minsker was charged with driving under the influence, driving while impaired, driving while impaired per se and negligent driving, authorities said.

“We are very concerned and saddened about this whole situation,” Thomas Powell, president of Saint John’s Catholic Prep, told the Frederick News Post. “We are obviously concerned and sad for Marc, but we’re concerned for our students as well.”

Minsker is on leave for the rest of the school year. Powell plans to announce a new principal by July 1, he told the newspaper.
