Rain, Storms For MD In Weekend Forecast: See Latest Details

Forecasters say conditions will move from sunny and dry on Friday to stormy and rainy, in time for a wet weekend in Maryland.

MARYLAND — As fall weather settles in across Maryland, forecasters say conditions will move from dry to stormy as a strong weather system affects the region in time for the weekend.

This means a rainy, windy weekend for Maryland residents, with occasional downpours possible. Both Saturday and Sunday are also expected to be much cooler, with a possible wind chill Saturday night.

The wet, windy weather is predicted to affect the region beginning on Saturday, and could last until midday Sunday, according to the National Weather Service. A general 1 inch of rain, with localized amounts to 2 inches, is likely from the storm.

Saturday will not be a steady, all-day rain. Instead, the day will feature periods of rain and showers, including some downpours. Thunderstorms also could move into the region late Saturday afternoon and into the evening, according to the NWS.

For Saturday night, "clammy low temperatures" will drop into the upper 40s to low 50s, with "a bit of a wind chill" felt as winds start to gust near 25 mph, the Capital Weather Gang said.

Some showers are expected to linger into Sunday, with winds picking up as a coastal storm strengthens offshore, according to the NWS.
