Silver And Sons BBQ's Brick-And-Mortar Location To Open In Bethesda
Starting March 1, Silver and Sons BBQ will be serving its specialties from a food truck parked outside the future home of the restaurant.
BETHESDA, MD — Chef Jarrad Silver, owner of Silver and Sons BBQ, a food truck and catering operation, will be opening a new brick-and-mortar location in Bethesda.
The food truck serves a Jewish and Mediterranean form of regional American barbeque. The new restaurant will be located at 5400 Westbard Ave. in the Westbard Square development.
The restaurant, which is scheduled to open by the end of the year, will be an 800-square-foot space designed primarily for carryout, though a standing counter will offer a dine-in option for up to eight people.

Starting March 1, Silver and Sons BBQ will be serving short rib pastrami and other smoked specialties from a food truck parked just outside the future storefront. The temporary counter will be open every Friday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. until the grand opening later this year.
“This is such an exciting time for the Washington-area barbecue scene,” Silver said in a statement. “One of our main advantages is we don’t have a set regional style. Without the constraints of a rigid local tradition, small, creative operators like us can innovate and play with new flavors and styles while staying true to the soul of American barbecue.”

In addition to the Westbard Square restaurant Space, Silver and his team are also building a new commissary kitchen at 627 Lofstrand Lane in Rockville, which will allow Silver to expand his catering and food truck operations. The commissary, which is already under construction, is scheduled to be in operation by June.
“Having a storefront and an expanded commissary kitchen will give me even more room to try new things,” Silver said.
With the help of the satellite kitchen, the Westbard Square restaurant will offer a menu that is at least twenty percent larger than that currently offered at Silver’s two food trucks.
A lineup of specialty sandwiches will join Silver and Sons favorites like pulled lamb shoulder, Creekstone prime brisket, and pastrami spiced mushrooms. These new additions will include a French-dip-style sandwich made with sliced beef short rib and jus, a sandwich of wagyu beef cheeks that have been smoked and finished in rendered beef tallow, and a smoked turkey breast sandwich with thin, deli-style slices served with sprouted grains.
Silver and Sons BBQ was founded as a backyard barbecue company in November 2020 by Silver, a D.C.-area chef who had previously worked at Birch and Barley.
