BETHESDA, MD — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids and teens to their neighbors.

This submission comes from Alison Gee, who nominated Jeremy, a 12th grader at Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School, who showed initiative by leading efforts to ensure the theater shows went on at the high school.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

Jeremy stepped up to organize, cast, direct, produce and choose the plays this fall when it was announced the theater would stay dark and there would be no theater opportunities as there was no teacher willing to direct the play. He found an English teacher to sponsor him and produced and directed for the first time. He created a safe community for over 50 students who were involved onstage or on the tech crew. Jeremy worked tirelessly to ensure students had a creative, safe community where everyone supported each other.
