Suspect In Bethesda Apartment Building Mail Theft Charged: Police

BETHESDA, MD — Montgomery County police charged an Oxon Hill man in connection with stealing mail from an apartment building in Bethesda in August.

Dawud Aubry Drayton, 19, was arrested on Dec. 8 and charged with mail theft that occurred on Aug. 19 in the 5400 block of Westbard Avenue, following multiple tips to the Crime Solvers call center, police said Wednesday.

During their investigation, police determined two suspects entered the secured building after a resident opened the lobby door to pick up a food delivery. Once in the building, the suspects stole multiple packages belonging to residents, police said.

Using multiple anonymous tips, police said they identified Drayton as one of the suspects.

After his arrest, Drayton was taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he was charged with burglary and theft. He was released on bond, police said.
