Swastika Drawn By Student Discovered At MoCo Middle School: Principal

A swastika drawn by a student was discovered at Westland Middle School in Bethesda during the first week of school in Montgomery County.

BETHESDA, MD — A swastika was discovered drawn on a computer screen of a student at Westland Middle School in Bethesda during the first week of school in Montgomery County.

Westland Middle School Principal Alison Serino wrote a letter to parents dated Sept. 1 to let them know about the incident, Montgomery County Media reported Tuesday.

“I am extremely disappointed to report to you that a drawing of a swastika was discovered today on a computer screen in one of our classrooms,” Serino wrote. “It was quickly removed, and the teacher addressed the students about the impact this hate symbol has on members of our school and community, and it will not be tolerated.”
