Take A Bus To All 14 Early Voting Centers Across Montgomery County

Montgomery County's Ride On bus service has several routes available to take voters to early voting centers starting Thursday, Oct. 27.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — The Montgomery County Department of Transportation’s Ride On bus service, together with Metrobus, has several routes available to take voters to early voting centers across the county when early voting starts in one week on Oct. 27.

Early voting in Montgomery County for the 2022 general election will be available at 14 early voting centers from Thursday, Oct. 27 through Thursday, Nov. 3, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day, including on Sunday, Oct. 30.

“In Montgomery County, a large portion of our population relies on public transportation for essential trips,” MCDOT Director Chris Conklin said in a statement. “We want to ensure that all of our residents, regardless of income or ability, can get to polling sites.”

Registered voters have always been able to vote during early voting, but now residents who are eligible but not yet registered can register and vote. To register and vote during early voting, go to an early voting center in Montgomery County and bring a document that proves where you live. This document can be your MVA-issued license, ID card, or change of address card, or your paycheck, bank statement, utility bill, or other government document with your name and new address.

To take a bus to an early voting site, residents can look up scheduled Ride On bus routes by location. For information on the early voting centers and hours of operation, go to the early voting information page.

Fare collection was temporarily suspended during the first two years of the COVID-19 pandemic. Fare collection resumed on all Montgomery County buses on Aug. 1. The one-way fare is $1.

Montgomery County seniors, members of the disability community and students can ride county Ride On buses for free if they qualify for a Senior SmartTrip Card, Metro Disability Card, or a Youth Cruiser Card.

For residents concerned about riding public transportation during the COVID-19 pandemic, Montgomery County said bus interiors will continue to be cleaned by the county's Department of General Services with hospital-grade disinfectant. Bus filter and ventilation systems are also treated with a disinfectant.
