Turkey Chase Brings Back In-Person Running For 40th Annual Race
The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is bringing back its in-person Turkey Chase on Thanksgiving in Bethesda after a two-year hiatus.

BETHESDA, MD — The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is bringing back its in-person Turkey Chase on Thanksgiving in Bethesda after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
On Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24, the 10K race leads off at 8:30 a.m. in front of the YMCA at 9401 Old Georgetown Rd. in, with the three turkey mascots: Goblet, Giblet and Gravy. Participants may also choose to do a 5K run.
Race packets may be picked up at the YMCA Bethesda-Chevy Chase on Tuesday, Nov. 22 and Wednesday, Nov. 23 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on race day starting at 6 a.m.

The Turkey Chase has been taking place since 1982 in Bethesda. In addition to being the largest race in Montgomery County, it is the largest fundraiser for the YMCA and Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rotary, raising more than $6.2 million. In the past, the event has drawn more than 10,000 runners.
The event provides funds for community programs and supports YMCA's across the D.C. area.

Because the opportunity to run virtually was so popular in 2020 and 2021, there will be a virtual component again this year. Participants may choose to run, walk or bike on their own from Nov. 12 to Nov. 27.
Families, organizations and companies are encouraged to enroll and participate as teams in both the live and virtual options.
