BETHESDA, MD — The Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration is hosting a virtual public meeting on Sept. 21 to share information about its River Road Corridor Safety Study.

The State Highway Administration is examining ways that pedestrian and bicyclist safety can be improved along about 4,000 feet of River Road (MD 190) from Springfield Drive to Little Falls Parkway in Bethesda.

State highway officials began the corridor study and needs analysis in February and expect the study to be completed this fall.

“Safety and accessibility are crucial in creating a transportation system that works for all users, including pedestrians and bicyclists,” Maryland Transportation Secretary Paul Wiedefeld said in a statement Thursday. “Working with residents and other community stakeholders is vital because it allows us to explore and develop solutions that benefit everyone traveling this busy corridor.”
