Week in Review: Oct. 17- 23

A wrap-up of the news week in Bethesda.

This week, we reported on a released by Montgomery schools superintendent Joshua Starr that would assign the East Bethesda community to for grades Kindergarten through five.

The East Bethesda community has long pushed for the move, but some in the Rosemary Hills community have worried it could affect demographics at elementary schools in the B-CC cluster.

In development news, we reported on for a mixed-use development at the former Trillium site at Wisconsin Avenue and Battery Lane, which may feature a partially below-grade grocery store.

In transportation news, we reported on the in the Bethesda area. Also this week, at the same time, and a council committee has to discuss the escalators next Tuesday.

The News Literacy Project’s returned to and was among several county hospitals and agencies who participated in a major disaster drill. In arts news, we reported on a play at that looks at vets returning home after war, and in schools news, several students were at during Spirit Day.

Next week marks the beginning of the trial for Brittany Norwood, the woman accused of killing her co-worker Jayna Murray at Bethesda’s Lululemon shop in March. Stay tuned to Patch for full coverage of the eight-day jury trial.
