Weekend Forecast: Nor'easter Threatens Rain, Wind For Maryland
A potential nor'easter threatens to bring rain and wind gusts to Maryland this weekend, followed by colder temps Monday, forecasters said.
MARYLAND — A potential nor'easter threatens to bring rain and wind to Maryland this weekend, according to an AccuWeather report.
How the potential nor'easter affects Maryland and other parts of the Mid-Atlantic region is still unclear, the AccuWeather report stated. Even if a full-fledged nor'easter doesn't develop, Maryland is likely to see rain starting Friday and into Saturday from a widespread storm system.
"Which areas get hit the hardest by the effects of rain and wind will depend on the track and strength of the storm, but there is the likelihood of a thorough soaking in parts of the northeast U.S. and Atlantic Canada this weekend," said Adam Douty, a senior meteorologist for AccuWeather, in a report by the service.

The storm is expected to form along the Carolina coast Friday or Saturday and begin to track northward.
“The storm will strengthen significantly as it travels northward on Saturday night and Sunday,” AccuWeather Chief On-Air Meteorologist Bernie Rayno said. “The storm is likely to evolve into a potent nor’easter and produce a zone of heavy rain, strong winds and building seas.”

According to the National Weather Service, a gradual warming trend is expected in Maryland through Friday. By late Friday, though, a cold front is expected to track through the area as the storm system approaches.
"Meanwhile, a coastal low intensifies offshore leading to cool and brisk northwest winds this weekend," the NWS said. "Some frost/freeze concerns loom by Monday."
The Capital Weather Gang is predicting that as the storm moves up the coast, winds could gust to more than 30 mph on Sunday, with daytime highs only topping out in the low 60s.
While the storm may not produce major rainfall or flooding beyond a typical fall coastal system, temperatures will be dropping to a more seasonal feel by Monday, according to forecasts.
