What’s Open, Closed On MLK Jr. Day 2022 In Bethesda

BETHESDA, MD — On Monday, residents and businesses in Bethesda will take a moment to honor the life and legacy of civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr.
As a federal holiday, MLK Day could also affect the hours of government offices, libraries, public transportation, garbage pickup and other services in Bethesda.
Before you head out, here’s a roundup of what’s open and what’s closed on Martin Luther King Jr. Day in our city:

- County offices— Closed
- State offices and courts — Closed
- Libraries — Closed
- Ride On — Operating on new schedules going into effect on Jan. 16. The schedules will service changes can be viewed here.
- Ride On extRa and Flex — Not in service
- Flash — Operating on a weekend schedule (Orange Line only)
- MARC Train and Commuter Bus — Operating on an R schedule (not R+) on all three lines. See more information here.
- TRiPS Silver Spring commuter store — Open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- TRiPS Mobile Commuter Store — Closed
- Parking at public garages, lots, curbside meters — Free
- County-collected trash and recycling — Will not be collected on Jan. 17., and all collections will be pushed one day each week from the regular schedule. More information is available here.
- Shady Grove Processing Facility and Transfer Station and the Recycling Center — Closed
- Recreation—Aquatics programs and facilities are open, but all other classes and programs are canceled. The department’s administrative office, senior centers and community centers are also closed.
- These Montgomery Parks facilities will be closed:
- Montgomery Parks headquarters and permits office
- Brookside Gardens visitors center and conservatory (gardens remain open sunrise to sunset)
- Meadowside nature center
- Brookside nature center
- Locust Grove nature center (closed to visitors unless they are there for a scheduled program)
- Black Hill visitor center and nature programs
- Woodlawn museum, visitors center and manor (trails and grounds will be open sunrise to sunset)
- Josiah Henson Museum
