Zero Coronavirus Deaths, 75 New Cases Reported In Montgomery Co.
Montgomery County saw zero new coronavirus deaths on Wednesday. The local fatality count remains at 748, while the case total hits 17,305.
BETHESDA, MD — No new coronavirus deaths were recorded in Montgomery County on Wednesday, according to the Maryland Department of Health, leaving the local fatality count at 748.
The state's most populous jurisdiction reported its first coronavirus-related death on March 21. Daily deaths peaked at 30 on April 27 — according to the county's coronavirus data — and has consistently been in the single digits since June 6.
The latest death toll does not include the 39 others whose deaths were linked to the virus, but never confirmed by a lab test. They are considered "probable deaths."

On Wednesday, health officials reported 75 new coronavirus cases in the county. That pushes the local total to 17,305.
The county — which is home to roughly 1.1 million residents — has the second highest number of confirmed cases, after Prince George's County, which has 22,044, according to the latest figures.

The county is using 10 public health benchmarks as a guide for reopening. To date, the county has met, or is close to meeting, six of those benchmarks.
Across Maryland, there have been 86,285 cases, 3,347 confirmed deaths, and 131 "probable deaths."
Of the 571 people currently hospitalized with the virus, 145 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
