1 Taken To Hospital After Fight Among Students Breaks Out At Bowie High School: Police

A fight erupted at Bowie High School Wednesday afternoon, injuring one person who was taken to the hospital, police reported.

BOWIE, MD — A fight broke out around 2:26 p.m. Wednesday at Bowie High School that ended up causing one person to be taken to the hospital by ambulance for treatment. A suspect has been arrested in the case.

According to the Bowie Police Department, officers were called to the high school for a "dispute among several youth." The preliminary investigation indicates that during the incident, one person experienced an injury not considered life-threatening and was taken to the hospital. All people involved in the incident have been identified and the investigation is active, the police department stated.

Jorge Zamudio Lozano, who isn't a student, was taken into custody and charged with attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault and possession of a dangerous deadly weapon (knife) on school property, the police department stated. He is being held without bail at the Department of Corrections in Upper Marlboro.
